The Vanarama First Fortnight – the future’s looking bright for Barnet!

August so far…

Tough start? What tough start? When Barnet fans got their August fixtures, they might well have been battening down the hatches. But Darren Currie has took it on the chin and returned an impressive eight points from their opening five games – not bad going!

Currie Corner…

It was the same old story for Darren Currie after Saturday’s draw with Chesterfield. “We’re just lacking that firepower which is really frustrating,” he said. Plenty of time to go!

Head-turning win…

Not many would have given the Bees a sniff at Meadow Lane in front of the BT Sport cameras – even less so after Enzio Boldewijn opened the scoring for the hosts. However, Simeon Akinola had something to say about that.

Couldn’t do without…

Talking of Akinola, the frontman has been in top form so far this campaign. His goals have confirmed every point the Bees have taken this season.

Stat attack…

League position: 10th

Home goals for: 3

Away goals for: 3

Home goals against: 3

Away goals against: 2

Top scorer: Simeon Akinola (4)

It’s a big season for…

After recently hitting 100 appearances in a Barnet shirt, Jack Taylor continues to impress. The Irishmen has hit the century at just 21-years-old and isn’t looking to stop there. “I see myself as one of the experienced ones now, so I like to take control,” he said.

Where next?

The Racecourse is always a tough place to go whatever form you’re in. Wrexham have won both games they’ve played there so far but as Barnet have shown, big grounds and big crowds don’t scare them one bit!

Take note of…

Young striker Mark Harris is taking the plaudits for Bryan Hughes’ men after hitting the ground running. And while he might not have a hatful of goals to boast, JJ Hooper is also worth keeping an eye on.

We’ve got previous…

Wrexham have enjoyed playing the Bees in recent years – taking the spoils in all four of their previous meetings. February 2014 was the last time Barnet celebrated a win in Wales courtesy of Jake Hyde’s winner.

League sponsors Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Mototama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback!
