UNCHANGED BEES?

Barnet travel to Chesterfield this morning buoyed by two consecutive clean sheets, with sound defensive displays leading to four points being added to the total in the last two games.

Chesterfield find themselves in mid-table, in 13th position. This was not the start they were anticipating and have duly parted with their manager John Sheridan.

They had planned to bounce back after being relegated from League 1 last season and after a start to the season that did not match their high expectations Paul Cook has been recruited from Accrington Stanley with the brief to get the Spireites straight up again.

Barnet will be all aware of the “new manager syndrome” where a side that was previously bereft of ideas suddenly starts firing on all cylinders, everyone eager to impress the new boss.

It is to be hoped that the Bees can buck this trend and the cause would be helped if either or both Collins John or Ricky Holmes can be involved in today’s fixture.

There has been a tendency this season if the Bees have produced a decent result or a performance that the team selected in the following match has been unchanged.

The most recent example being when the Bees that started at Wycombe was the same XI that had started the Northampton game.

Issues that may influence the team will clearly be Edgar Davids’ reaction to two games in quick succession and if any players previously out injured are able to declare themselves available. We will know at 2 o’clock today.

If you are not at the game then Karl Bates will be heading up the commentary team for the Barnet Player service.
