Michael Gash says that he is relishing the competition for places up front as Barnet prepare for life back in the Football League.
Speaking after this weekend’s friendly against Crystal Palace which saw both John Akinde and Kevin Lisbie find the back of the net at the end of a week that also saw Shaun Batt arrive at the club, the striker says that such stiff competition for places can only help everybody to raise their game:
“You need competition otherwise you can start to get into a comfort zone. The gaffer has brought in two top strikers so it is going to be tougher for me and John who were here last week.
“You have to fight for your place but you have got to be confident and you have got to believe in yourself and train hard to get into the gaffer’s thoughts. I am looking forward to the challenge – it is going to be tough but it is going to be enjoyable as well.
“It is my first time in the Football League so I am relishing the chance to get on the pitch and play my part.”
