MATCH REPORT | BARNET FC 2-1 EASTLEIGH

Dean Brennan made a number of changes to his starting XI with Josh Keeley and Callum Stead being away on international duty and other players returning from injury.

Laurie Walker, Danny Collinge, Dale Gorman and Nicke Kabamba all came into the starting XI.

The Bees took the lead after 18 minutes when Dale Gorman found the back of the net with a stunning strike from outside the box.

Zak Brunt almost made it 2-0 minutes later when his effort from outside the box was well saved by Joe McDonnell.

Barnet did find their second goal of the evening as Kabamba headed the ball to Gatlin O’Donkor who volleyed home an excellent goal from inside the box.

The away side was quick to respond and found the back of the net just three minutes later. A counter-attack allowed Chris Maguire to run the length of the Barnet half and find the back of the net.

Eastleigh almost found an equaliser two minutes later but were denied by an excellent fingertip save from Laurie Walker.

Walker was forced to make another good save ten minutes into the second half. The Eastleigh forward was one-on-one with Walker before the keeper palmed the ball away.

Kabamba then came close to making it 3-1 but McDonnell did well to get a hand of Kabamba’s strike.

The first change for Barnet came on the hour mark as Gatlin O’Donkor came off for Jordan Maguire-Drew.

Walker was called into action again with twenty minutes left of play as he was forced to tip a long range Eastleigh effort. That was quickly followed up with another big save from Walker to keep the score at 2-1.

Ben Coker then made way for Idris Kanu who was brought on after a long spell on the sidelines. Jordan Cropper also came on to replace Danny Collinge.

Dale Gorman had the final chance for Barnet just minutes before the end of the game. His long range effort went narrowly wide of the post.

The Bees saw out the game and secured all three point against Eastleigh to remain 2nd in the National League table.
